Delaware Township Fire Company

Fire Protection and Water Supply

A fire truck sprays water from multiple hoses on a narrow road bridge surrounded by leafless trees. The truck has flashing lights, and the scene appears to be a training exercise or drill.

The Delaware Township Fire Company provides fire protection services to all areas within Delaware Township and the borough of Stockton.

It’s important to note that public fire hydrants are only available within the village of Sergeantsville and the borough of Stockton. In areas outside of these two locations, where hydrants are not present, the Fire Company uses a well-coordinated water delivery system to ensure effective firefighting operations.

To support areas without hydrants, the Fire Company operates:

  • Two water tenders, each with a 3,000-gallon capacity
  • Two fire engines, each carrying 750 gallons of water

This equipment allows the Fire Company to quickly bring a total of 7,500 gallons of water to the scene of a reported fire in non-hydranted areas.

Additionally, for all reported structure fires, the Fire Company automatically receives mutual aid from surrounding communities. These neighboring fire departments provide additional water tenders, engines, tower ladders, and personnel as part of a regional cooperative box alarm response plan. This ensures that sufficient water and resources are available even in rural areas without hydrants.

The Delaware Township Fire Company is well-equipped and trained to handle structure fires in both hydranted and non-hydranted areas, ensuring prompt and professional fire protection services across the township.
